Romalia's Townhouse
Romalia's Townhouse

Our Legacy

Romalia’s was built as a place for family gathering, a home away from home and for vacation renting. The building is dedicated to the memory of Robert Samuel Bethel, Reatta Lucy Bethel, Romalia Albury nee Bethel and George Albury who were original owners of the land and early dwellers of this beautiful island. It is our hope that through this facility we can continue the legacy of our great grandparents and grandparents who dedicated their lives not only to raising their children with strong family values and a firm commitment of faith but inspiring many of the island’s youth.

Romalia whom the vacation rental is named after was an educator from the age of 14 years old. She taught in public school in Harbour Island and private schools in Nassau, the capital city. Her love for family and our country’s youth extended beyond academics in the classroom as she taught piano lessons at her home. She was affectionately called mommy, mother “A” and Grammy by all who knew her.  Her strong commitment of faith kept the family together.

The suites are named in honor of the two sisters Cecilia and Regina who inherited the land from their mom Romalia. Sr. Cecilia Albury, OSB followed in her mother’s footsteps as an educator and Regina Johnson nee Albury embraced life in the restaurant and telecommunication services industries. These sisters continue to carry on the spirit of giving, educating and faith building among family, friends and the communities in which they live.
